We are so grateful to Momentum Children's Charity for helping us through the darkest of times for our family. Our youngest son, Ryan, aged 7 was diagnosed with a suspected rare tumour deep in his brain. His case was complex and after weeks of hospital tests, we had months of 'watch and wait' to find out if it was malignant or benign. The waiting was agonising; our lives were on hold.
Momentum Children's Charity have been amazingly supportive to us throughout the past 18 months - from the wait for a diagnosis, to brain surgery at St George's, to chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment at the Marsden - they have helped us every step of the way.
From thoughtful gifts for Ryan, to music and art therapy for Ryan and his brother, to exciting days outs and a trip on the Riverboat, to wonderful stays at the cabin in the New Forest. Momentum has helped us stay strong, brought fun and happy times and ensured we got through this together as a family. They even organised sessions with their counsellor to help us talk about this traumatic time and come to terms with what's happened.
Having a Family Support Worker really made a difference. We felt like we'd gained a friend; having a child with cancer can make you feel isolated so having Kerrie to talk to, someone who completely understood was a great support. The whole team at Momemtum Children's Charity are so thoughtful and caring, thank you.
