First Give is an educational, interactive, student-led programme to encourage entire year groups of students to engage with local charities in small teams, and to advocate for their chosen charities competing to win a total of £1,500 for each school to award to the charities of the three winning teams. We would be delighted to support local schools who wish to participate in the programme, and who nominate Momentum as their chosen charity!
This fully-resourced programme provides free OFSTED-ready lesson plans and resources , and reaches across the PHSE, RE, English and Citizenship curriculums. It helps to develop key transferrable skills such as teamwork, leadership, research and public speaking. The First Give Programme also complements the education of young people to give their time and talent to support local charities and improve their communities. Planning your First Give Programme presentation?
We would love your team to represent Momentum through the First Give Programme. We hope that here we can provide you with plenty of inspiring information for your presentation.
We look forward to hearing from you to arrange a visit to our office so that you can learn even more about us and so that we can support you well on your way to being a winning team!
Please take time to look around our website for detailed information on our services, but if you need a quick summary to get you started, we've got a handy crib-sheet of key facts here:
Who we are: Founded in 2004, Momentum is a local charity based in Kingston upon Thames supporting children who have cancer or a life-limiting condition, and their families, across Surrey and South West London.
What we do: We work with local hospitals to improve the facilities and healing environment for children during hospital stays, and we offer individually-tailored support to over 150 families at any one time, providing family support, emotional and practical help, therapy services including music, dance and drama, as well as trips, treats and respite holidays. Our help has a very positive impact on the children and their families.
Our vision: We are seeking to expand so that we are able to help more children and their families by extending our range of services and the areas where we work. Ultimately, no family with a seriously ill child should have to cope alone so we would like to build our support team and develop our family support services, explore new areas within Surrey and beyond, and raise awareness locally with greater visibility and presence.
Fundraising: In order to maintain and extend the support that we are able to offer, Momentum relies entirely on the support of the public and funds raised through its charity work. We receive no government funding. It is therefore crucial that we raise more funds in order to continue with and expand the work we do.
We would be delighted to hear from you to tell you more, to provide resources, brochures, and photographs for your presentation, and support you every step of the way.
