Heather Waghorn Fitness
Heather Waghorn of HA Fitness, and member of The Athena Network Wimbledon, was looking for a small local charity to support when Momentum was introduced to the group in July 2016.
In July 2017, Heather has set herself a personal challenge of running 100k along the Ridgeway, an historic and ancient trading route in aid of Momentum. As part of her training, Heather has signed up to run the Tokyo Marathon in February, as well as lots of smaller runs in between. You can follow her running journey on https://www.instagram.com/hafitness.
“I’m planning on running a fair few miles in 2017, and want to make all that pavement pounding worthwhile.
I was looking for a small charity to support, where I could see how the money was used and the difference it makes to people’s lives. As a local business owner, I wanted to work with a community charity, one who I could make a real connection with. Being a mum of two young children, Momentum really struck a cord.
I really do hope that we can raise a lot of money for Momentum in 2017, and help them carry out the amazing work that they do for local families going through very challenging times.”
Heather also runs a monthly ‘Netwalking’ group, which sets out from the Windmill on Wimbledon Common. This regular meeting gives its members a chance both to network with other local business and get fit at the same time! Groups are typically 10-15 people strong, with each attendee paying £5, which Heather collects and gives to Momentum.
