September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, adopted by charities in the UK and worldwide, to raise awareness of childhood cancer.
Almost 4,000 children and young people are diagnosed with cancer every year in the UK.
That's 10 families every single day who receive the shocking news that their child is seriously ill. Treatment is a long and gruelling journey. Families will undoubtedly go through the most heart-wrenching times of their lives. And this is where we can help.
Every September we encourage people across South West London and Surrey to Go Gold in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, to honour the brave local children we look after, and raise funds towards our vital family support services.
This year is no different and we are asking everyone to take part during September. Whether you get a group of friends together, get your local clubs involved, your school or your office - Be Bold and Go Gold!
We are also asking all boats on the River Thames to show support by decorating their boats in gold, so if you live out on the water please contact us to find out more. Go Gold on the River Thames!
Host or organise a golden dress up to show your support! Ask all participants to dress in gold in exchange for a donation. You could organise:
Just make sure you get your gold gear out! You could even offer a prize for the best golden dress.
It's simple to organise but a fantastic way to help raise money:
We have plenty of resources for your golden fundraising event, just let us know about your fundraiser and we can send you the following:
If you don't have time to run a fundraiser but would still like to show your support you can donate here. It costs us around £10,000 for the Family Support Team to support our 150 families every month and we rely solely on individual donations so every one really does count.
We've got lots of bright ideas and would love to chat to you about what you are planning! Please contact us on 020 8974 5931 or email email@example.com.
