Families we support can enjoy Moments on the River
Momentum is the proud owner of a wide-beam 40ft canal boat. Her name is 'Moments on the River' and she lives in Shepperton Marina.
'Moments on the River' can be used by our supported families in one of three ways:
You can book her for a 3 to 4 hour cruise with a volunteer crew: once a date and time has been agreed you sit back and enjoy the beauty of the river Thames. You can take a picnic lunch or snacks, or alternatively ask the skipper to stop at a pub.
You can also take her out yourself for a day trip or to take her further afield for a weekend or a week. She is free to roam anywhere upriver from Teddington Lock. If you wish to drive her yourself you will need to do some training to get to know her and also to become familiar with general boat handling and how to navigate the river. Training sessions are held most Fridays and Saturdays and will take about 2 hours. A maximum of 4 adults can be accommodated on any one training session. Children are welcome to come, but you will need to ensure their safety while they are on the boat.
You can also stay put and just enjoy the boat moored up in the beautiful surrounds of Shepperton Marina. From there, it is only a 15 minute walk (down the cycle path) to Walton Centre with its wealth of shops and restaurant. In the marina there is a also a canoe centre which hires out canoes and kayaks to use on their little lake or on the river.
'Moments on the River' sleeps 4 and has a kitchenette (with fridge and stove and oven) and a shower-room on board.
