Sealife Isolation Room and Day Surgery Unit
Stunning scenes of blue seas and brightly-coloured tropical fish now adorn the walls of one of the treatment bays in the Day Surgery Unit and an Isolation Cubicle on Sunshine Ward at Kingston Hospital. The walls have been transformed from bare, white walls to scenes of a tropical paradise, complete with deep blue seas featuring sealife creatures such as lobsters, crabs and colourful tropical fish.
“The newly refurbished rooms have made a real difference to the staff and patients. Whereas the rooms were very bland and clinical beforehand the area is now colourful and uplifting, which is imperative in helping to relieve the anxiety that many families can understandably feel when they are in hospital.” commented Sarah Shade, Matron for Children & Young People.
The two projects were completed in February 2017 and were made possible by generous funding from The Generations Foundation.
