The transformation of the old outside area (which originally consisted of a tarmac quadrangle) into a wonderful garden and children’s play area was one of Momentum’s first and lasting projects that transformed the healing environment at Kingston Hospital.
So many children, whether admitted to hospital as in-patients or just visiting as out-patients, need time outside to play in the fresh air and exercise. This fun and colourful space has been well thought-out to incorporate good design and practical choices. The big red train is a huge success with children constantly climbing aboard as part of their fantasy play. Even the floor is child-friendly as it has a surface which is kinder for any unexpected falls!
