This September, why not join Momentum and GO GOLD for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. Every day around 10 children and young people in the UK are diagnosed with cancer; that's 4,000 each year.
Despite improving survival rates cancer is the leading cause of death by disease in children and teenagers. Once a child has been diagnosed with cancer they begin a difficult journey of hospital visits and treatment, which for some children can last for many years.
Momentum has always strived to make this journey as bearable as possible for both the child and their family by providing support to the whole family, and offering trips and treats and respite away at our New Forest holiday cottages. In addition we have transformed treatment and other rooms at Kingston Hospital, Epsom Hospital, St Peter’s Hospital and St George’s Hospital, creating a warm, welcoming and fun environment for the children undergoing treatment.
During Childhood Cancer Awareness Month we are raising awareness of the prevalence of childhood cancer and the impact a diagnosis has on the entire family.
We need funds to continue our work, so why not embrace the gold theme and organise a gold fundraiser this September! Here are some ideas to get you started:
Go for Gold – There are lots of active events happening in Surrey and further afield throughout September. Get in touch for a full list and training guidelines.
Silence is golden – Why not challenge yourself to a sponsored silence and then shout all about the amazing help you’ve been for children affected by cancer.
As good as gold – Lent is long gone but the hard work that goes into giving up chocolate, or going without alcohol for an entire month is still a great way to fundraise.
Costume Party – Get sponsored to dress up like Mr T., Goldfinger, Tina Turner (Goldeneye), Spandau Ballet (Gold) or David Bowie (Golden Years), to name a few!
Gold Dinner Party –be lavish, or cheat with faux gold napkins, plates, cups and cutlery.
Cake Sale –Give your own Bake Off the golden touch with edible glitter and gold icing!
Treasure Hunt –A great way for kids, or big-kids to help fundraise by setting up clues. The prize? What better than a chest of gold chocolate coins!
